Ever been told to “man up”? You should. Very few men ever “man up” and it’s about time we do. I’m not talking about some testosterone-fueled call to action that promotes suppression of emotion or pain. I’m talking about truly “manning up” and creating the type of change we need.

Man up and stop viewing women as objects. She’s someone’s daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend. She has dreams, hopes and feelings just like you do. She’s intelligent and capable. She has a lot more to offer than her body. Treat everyone with the respect they deserve.

Stop defining men as logical and women as emotional. Your son’s health is just as dependent upon the healthy expression of emotions as it is upon a balanced diet. Comfort him if he’s upset and let him know it’s okay to show pain. Provide examples of what healthy male relationships look like.

Stop agreeing with others just to fit in. Start calling other men out when they cross the line. Saying nothing is saying something; stop letting others speak for you and start speaking up. Take a stand, speak up for those who can’t. You may lose friends, but the ones you’ll gain will last a lifetime.
