There is an old saying “you get what you pay for.”

I’d seen many examples of this especially when it comes to products. Lately I’ve been seeing examples of how it can apply to people too.

From what I can gather it’s not so much the people’s fault as much as it’s the managers who’ve hired them.

People being hired to do a job that in reality lack the ability or are not qualified to do can end up costing almost 3x their annual salary.

Not to mention the hours upon hours of back and forth that end up with the same results.

If there is one thing I’m learning from all of this its that before you hire someone you need to really understand what you’re hiring for.

Start hiring for skills and abilities. Pay properly for those characteristics and stop just adding warm bodies.

We all could run leaner and meaner with a better understanding of what we all expect from each other.
